The NEW Tern Orox!

The NEW Tern Orox!

The first of its kind in stock in Toronto - The Tern Orox is here at Urbane!

The Orox is the newest adventure ready - car replacing - pedal assisted - family friendly - cargo bike available from Tern. With the groundbreaking Bosch smart system equipped with a massive battery potential you can travel up to 161km with a single battery configuration or up to 322 km with a dual battery setup! (WOW!) This bike also boasts the highest Max Gross Vehicle Weight to date from Tern, able to handle up to 210 kg (462 lb) on road! (180kg/396lbs off-road)

So if you don’t already know Tern - they were originally best known for making some really cool folding bikes that we have covered in some past videos. But Tern has become better known in the last number of years for making some really clever compact e-bikes and e-cargo bikes. Tern’s various e-cargo models have been ranked highly and revered by many websites and media outlets - New York Strategist Ranked the GSD S10 as the Best overall e-cargo bike - GearJunkie.com ranked the Tern HSD p5i as the Best compact daily commuter electric cargo bike - Tern GSD S10 won Bicycling.com “Gear of the Year award” in 2018 and still ranks it as the Best performance folder in 2024 - Wired author Adrienne So event admits that they chose the Tern GSD S00 LX when it came to choosing their own bike while ranking many cargo bikes in 2023! So it’s no surprise that we were very excited to see how the team at Tern would approach a new style and terrain conquering e-bike with all they have learned through their previous very successful designs.

Tern is probably best known for the GSD (Get Stuff Done) and I like to look at the Orox like the off-road evolution of the GSD. The GSD showcased how a compact bike can functionally replace a car in the city but the Tern Orox seems to not only do that but opens up doors to go beyond where the pavement ends. A notable thing about most Tern bikes is that they tend to use small 20” wheels and are usually just 1 size fits most. The Orox still has a wide height fitting logic but has 2 frame sizes to fit riders 155 - 195 cm (5’1” - 6’5”) tall, weighing up to 130 kg (286 lb). Most of the Tern line-up has been much more city oriented - compact but extremely capable machines changing the way countless people move around the city.

The Orox builds on this tradition and uses a lot of the same design language as the GSD but with a more rugged and robust build kit. Thoughtful purpose driven design that solves many problems faced by cyclists trying to increase not only their range in the city but also their carrying potential and even opening up new possible terrain to master.

So why is this new Orox so exciting? Big wheels? Well…thats part of it (29+ and 27.5 + options). Biggest max gross vehicle weight capacity to date? Yes that too. Largest battery capacity of any Tern bike to date. Yes indeed. It can stand upright to save space while storing? That's pretty much a Tern signature at this point! Those are just some of the broad strokes for why this bike is so awesome but if you are already familiar with Tern you know it doesn’t just end with the bikes features -its all about the accessories so you can fully customize this bike to perfectly suit your specific needs!

Who is this bike for? The best part is that this bike could be for just about anyone! This can be a do it all adventure bike, or a cargo and kid hauler, electric assisted bike-packing and touring, trail maintenance? So much awesome potential packed into one bike.

If you are as excited as we are hit us up and schedule a test ride!
