Overview of Job: This position is responsible for excellent customer service, generating sales, merchandising, and safeguarding the Co-op’s merchandise. It plays an integral role upholding the Co-op’s high standards. It impacts customer satisfaction, the Co-op’s reputation in the marketplace and profitability. Core competencies for this role are teamwork, problem solving, leadership, communication and accountability. The sales associate job is broken down into three levels and includes sales, cashier and inventory control responsibilities. To the best of their ability, employees are expected to advance to higher levels at a reasonable pace. There are different compensation ranges for higher level positions.
Accountability: This position is accountable to the Co-op and reports to the Sales Lead(s).
Regular liaison and collaboration is required with other Sales team members in parts, sales,
cashier and purchasing roles.

We are hiring an experienced mechanic / service writer to join the service team at a worker-owned bicycle store in downtown Toronto. As an important resource for keeping the cycling community riding, we emphasize high standards for repairs and excellent customer service. We strive to maintain a diverse and inclusive work environment that does not discriminate against race, gender identity/expression, sex, ancestry, ability, and any other basis of oppression.
This position is for a mechanic with several years of professional experience in bicycle service. They perform a wide variety of complex and routine services on all types of bicycles. They also assess bikes to diagnose problems, recommend repairs, write service workorders, and communicate this information to customers. Experience with internal gear hub service, hydraulic brakes, and wheel building is an asset. We understand that there may be gaps in knowledge depending on experiences among different shops so we recognize that an applicant may not have all of these exact skills, we place an emphasis on having strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn. Certification through a recognized bicycle repair institute is a plus and experience with e-bikes, recumbents, and cargo bikes is preferred. This position requires an ability to clearly communicate with both colleagues and customers, to manage and meet customer expectations, and requires direct contact with customers in person, by phone, and by email. As a worker-owned co-op, there is the prospect of joining the business as a part-owner and becoming directly involved in decision-making and in your community as a whole.
