Gazelle Bikes - Now at Urbane!

We are super happy to announce that we are now stocking Gazelle bikes!

I like to think of Gazelle's design philosophy as "people centric design". By contrast North America historically has designed bikes to fit very specific niches and disciplines designed to conquer mountainsides or break speed records. A lot of people end up riding these bikes  - designed for a specific task to do everything - this often means that folks end up riding an aggressive road racing bike to get groceries or while commuting to work, or end up riding a mountain bike as a leisure bike for paths, and while this can work fine in some cases - loads of people end up using less optimal setups just because its what they have laying around. Gazelle make bikes designed to fit seamlessly into your lifestyle, making errands, commuting and leisure all blend into one smooth, comfortable and easy ride. Notably all Gazelle bikes sold in North America (and stocked here at Urbane) are Pedal assisted, which even further pushes the utilitarian narrative. This same "people centric" design really rang true back to the founding origin's of Urbane Cyclist back in 1997. We were stuck by how many shops all became "specialty" road or mountain bike shops selling high end sports equipment to ride off rode or to hit top gun speeds...often having the rider comfort secondary to the singular intended use of the bike. When Urbane opened, we chose to focus on various niche different offerings but wanted that utilitarian focus to be at the forefront of what we do everyday. Gazelle felt like such a logical choice for us and we hope you are as happy to ride them as we are to stock them!
