Surly Bridge Club vs Marin Muirwoods

Surly Bridge Club vs Marin Muirwoods

Flat bars + Big Tires + Steel Frames = Big fun

We saw big changes from Marin's longstanding Muirwoods model for 2022/2023. Considerable geometry and spec changes warranted a proper and detailed rundown...so why not simultaneously do a little comparison with one of Surly's newest and most popular models while we are at it (The Bridge Club)!?

Most folks understandably want to do a bit of research before stepping into a bike shop and unless you are a full-blown bike nerd (like myself) it can be daunting to try to decipher geometry charts and parts lists (and then to figure out what to do with all this information...). I find the easiest and best way to learn about potential new bikes is to compare between another bike model! Looking at the bigger picture and broad comparison along with a test ride will be the best way to focus in on what features and geometry you like for both fit and handling. Doing a back to back test ride can also be a great way as a salesperson to get to know what types of things you might like without needing to use technical language and this will better help to make alternate recommendations.

Bottom line?  These two bikes are both very similar at a glance on paper (aka the parts list/specification sheet) but we suggest always a test ride whenever possible because these two handle very differently! Also huge shout out to Bike Insights- this website is a fantastic way to compare different bike models if you are in the market for a new ride!
